Kickstand thingie

Kickstand thingie

Postby Cujo » Wed Apr 25, 2012 6:10 pm

Hey there:)

First of all, I wasn't sure where to put this, but i own a Yamaha TZR 50, a moped actually.
But just because it is pretty much a very small sportbike, i thought this section would be alright.

Anyways...
When i just had my TZR, the bike was able to have its kickstand down and still be running. But since a couple weeks ago the engine stalls as soon as i kick the stand down..
I cant start it either like that.

I cleaned the cable and connections.. Neutral light is working properly. And Clutch also works fine.

Does anybody have any idea of what this could be? TY anyways:)

Greetings,
Cujo

PS. Hopefully the english isn't to horrible..

Does you bike have a safety feature that turns the engine off if you put it in gear while the kickstand is down (or put the kickstand down while in gear)? If so, check the clutch lever wiring, maybe it's that.

Check the condition of the switch at the side stand.
There might be an issue with it.
You also might want to check that the switch is correctly plugged into the wire harness.

It will only stop running if a gear is selected, or thinks a gear is selected.
For you I hope its not the ECU that is messing up.

I once tryed to clean it before, but didn't work..
I will take a look at the switch tommorrow, when its dry outside :(
It also stalls in neutral.

Especially check the wiring of the switch, if you can with an ohmmeter or multimeter.
For testing purposes you could also bypass the switch altogether, but only do that if you know what your doing.
