Hello and a specific Ninja question

Postby Roosie » Tue Jul 19, 2011 3:19 pm

First of all, hello to everyone in this forum, a very pleasant community.
As you may guess by my post being in the newbie section, I got hooked on riding quite recently, a few tries on my friend's enduro 600cc bike and I knew I just had to start riding myself. As for my first bike it's already decided - definately a Ninja 250R. But admit I'm a sucker for the looks, and my true love are naked street-bikes ( years from now I know I'll be riding a FZ6 ) and so I found these two beauties:

in one of the pictures it says Ninja ZX 250R but when googled I find nothing. So could somebody please tell me what are these? are these some aftermarket mods of some particular Ninja models? Of course I'll get whatever's available for my wallet and so on, but it never hurts to ask questions, right?
Thanks for your answers and time in advance,
Cheers!

Doesn't look like any 250 i've ever seen. They look kind of like a ER6n. I doubt those are actual bikes. The second one looks almost exactly like a ER6n.

Cool bike. Good idea to make a Z250. Shame they dont make them from the factory.

So you're guessing it's some kind of mod? heck if only I knew where to get those little side fairings and that awesome front light mount ;/
But looking at the engine, I'd say pretty confidently that those are 250r's.. ugh theyre so awesome! ;D

I'm not saying its not, but heck I've been searching for days now and still haven't got the slightest idea as where to get such parts...

Should be able to just pop those fairings off, no? then you'd probably need a new headlight, new mirrors and perhaps gauges. I couldn't imagine it being to difficult to convert it to a naked bike

You could, but it leaves ugly mounting point on the gas tank, and as you see in the photos there are some little side fairings, to cover up the radiator, you also lack the underside fairing. Nevertheless I reluctantly have to admit that those images are most likely 'shopped, notice the difference in resolution between various parts, and I also foung  an article sayng that the silver one in only a concept design, what a pitty..
On the other hand it wouldn't be so hard to custom-make some mounting brackets for the gauges/headlight fixture, and perhaps use a fixture from some totaled street bike, smack in KOSO gauges. The real pain, I figure, are those "semi-fairings" wich I have absolutely no idea how to make, I have a friend who's awesome with metal for the custom front, but the sides are plastic or fiberglass which is a pain in the ass..
There are some rumors aboud a bunch of new 250 models planned for Q4 this year

But heck both of them look bulky, fat and lazy, if nothing comes up I'll just stick with a black Ninja, they still look pretty sweet even if not a streetfighter. ;]

I love my Suzuki and I really love that 250 they are supposedly coming out with, a stock street fighter kind of a cool concept for sure.
I'm the guy you see at 3am walking out to his bike in the garage and hugging it.
