Ninja250R, CBR250R or GT250R

Undecided on what bike I want. I haven't seen much about the GT250R. Anybody out there that owns one or has been on one to share some pros and cons? Thanks :)

I have been wondering the same thing, the Kawasaki is by far the most widely available therefore there is a better used and aftermarket avalibility for them...

CBR250 is awesome to learn and almost impossible to stall its also feel very modern. But the Kawak feel way more powerfull and sporty despite feeling a little old tech

I think for commuting in the city ill take a CBR250, no need of high RPM

But for anything past 70 KPH ill take the Ninja, just way more fun.

By the way i had those 2 bike for one week each

The GT250 is a Hyosung right? Those bikes have improved over the years but they still can't match up to the fit and finish or the Kawasaki or the Honda. If you want the GT then go for it, but you may run into a few quality control issues along the way.

Like rayman said, i dunno about the quality of the gt250r. I do know that it has a v-twin engine though. The ninja has an inline twin, and the cbr has a single cylinder. The ninja is the performer of the group, but you don't see the horsepower unless you rev the shit out of it. The cbr has low end power. All of its power is available from the beginning. It has less power though. The gt250r has an engine style that is right in the middle of the other two. A nice mixture of both engine characteristics.

Thank you all for the responses. This has helped me rule out the GT. I feel torn between the Ninja and Honda now. I'm 6'1 210lbs so I want the torque from the CBR.....but Ill be doing a lot of highway riding so i'm feeling the Ninja. It seems time for a test drive  ;D

I just saw this, figured I would post it somewhere

my question is will the CBR 250 hold up to highway speeds, here on the freeway the limit is 100 Kph but you often see people doing 10-15 over (not just one or two people pretty much everyone) Im wondering if it would be safe to take the honda there, I realize that the Kawasaki is not all that fast and is prone to being blown around by semi`s but is the Honda much worse than it...

I wouldnt want to do highway speeds on a CBR250.. being a single.
with a lower top speed then the ninja and less power.

My bikes relatively good at.. erm the legal speed limit on a motorway.

i do all highway commuting on my cbr250r, i rarely go below 75 and it cruises fine at those speeds.  i've heard that the ninja gets pretty bad vibrations are the higher speeds and you can get a numb throttle hand but i don't know first hand.  the other thing i like about the cbr as a beginner bike is the fuel gauge.  the ninja just has a light, and i think in the beginning you are worried about so many other things, that's just one less thing to stress over.  the other huge advantage of the cbr is FUEL INJECTED!  but check my blog in my signature, i wrote up a review on it.  i think it's a great commuter/beginner bike, and i like the looks of it and the newer technology.  other than cosmetics, the ninja250 hasn't really been updated.

and you can probably get the cbr cheaper than the ninja.  the kawasaki dealerships wanted more for used ninjas than a brand new cbr

The cbr250r seems like it should be a better bike. It's just too damn new. I like the fact that there is a cult following behind the kawa.

I personally can't see myself having less power for the highway than what my bike has. I haven't even had it more than a few weeks either. Sure you can do highway on a 250, but there's nothing like having the ability to downshift into 3rd and pass somebody at ANY time i want to, no matter how much space their is. My bike is probably pretty comparable to a newer 500, putting aside the weight. If you wanna try going the used route, look for a 500. The ninja 500r is kinda ugly, but if you don't mind the looks it's a pretty good bike. There's also the suzuki gs500, faired and naked version.

i also want to point out that the cbr is a good bit more attractive than the ninja.  the pictures online don't do it justice, and i get tons of compliments on it.  non-motorcycle people think it's a proper sportbike

Rebecca you are also not a fat ass like myself :P I see your point, I also know that with the carburated mini bikes I am riding (although I tend to do more mechanic work for my brother and his friend than actual riding) it is somewhat touchy about the engine temperature when adding fuel, it will work it will just be a little jerky...

also on cold starts I have found that you have to leave the choke in for a bit to get warmed up and slowly close it (again, I dont even know if this makes any mechanical sense, just personal experience although it could be partly due to the smaller 196cc motor being dificult to circulate oil inÉ) also after you get going a bit there is a sweet spot with them where you could reach a higher top end speed (although this was largely based on feel as they didnt have speedo`s or even tacometers, this was also a fairly unscientific test as we were constantly messing with the speed limiter and the throttle)

do these problems exist on the KawasakiÉ

PS. if you see me writing these É things, thats a question mark, stupid french canadian keyboard, it has something to do with the controll button but I cant make it go back after I accidently do it...
