How did you know I was going to race this bike? I sure will!

Rear lights OFF.
Image

Rear lights ON. One side is only looks brighter because of the angle I'm standing at.
Image

Now there are a few clearance issues.

Choke lever is right next to the petcock. It's OK. I can live with that.
Image

This, I cannot live with. Headlight fork ears hits the gas tank. I will have to flip the headlight ears over and all should be good. You can see that I didn't go down on grit while sanding . It's OK! The black is temporary!
Image

Then just some random shots.
Image

Nice blue skies and a sunny day .

The test ride was a success! Just about everything was perfect, except for the headlight fork ears. And the fact that I ran out of gas. She's ready to hit the road!

Love the build.  How is the comfort with the new riding position?
Bikes:  Yamaha Virago XV750J, BSA Lightning, Harley Electraglide, Honda Ascot Cafe, Suzuki GS550L, Yamaha RD350 (soon cafe'd)

The comfort is OK. I'll explain this as best as I can.

The clubman handlebars are very low, making you lean forward. The seat is very low because there is no seat pad. Then the mid control foot pegs make your legs more forward when they should be more back.

I will need to get rearsets, making my feet position more towards the rear, like a sport bike. I will upholster using 1" thick foam. That should boost comfortability by a lot.

But it's OK for now.

Running out of gas is pretty scary! The bike stalls and you have to quickly pull the clutch in before the engine shuts off and the rear wheel locks up. Lesson learned. I slid a little bit but all was good.

Headlight fork ears flipped over and lowered.
Image

Hardly any clearance but at least there's some!
Image

Turned to full lock.
Image

Wire wheeled the brake lever. Looks pretty good. I will polish it later and do the same to the clutch lever.
Image

Draining the 5 month old oil out.
Image

It has small amounts of gasoline too because I left the petcock on prime a few times .
Image

And in with the 15w-30 diesel Rotella oil. This oil makes a noticeable difference!

It has the lock too!

Napolean style bar end mirror. Front.

Back.

And finally, a Do The Ton PNW patch. This will look awesome on my jacket!
Image

Maybe we should do an M13 patch...

I have yet to do the ton on my GS450. Th fastest I went was 97 MPH. That was when my bike was all stock. It should be able to go over 100 MPH now! It has lost 15 lbs, pod filters, tuned carbs, more streamlined, lower profile, and stuff. Track day soon!

These videos were from yesterday. Forgot to upload these .

Turn signal set up. The lights are much brighter in person.
http://www.youtube.com/user/Spidershotg ... RyH_D5gN6E

Exhaust sound. I do not like how the exhaust sounds...
http://www.youtube.com/user/Spidershotg ... LQVJbF7RJU

There's a little bit of white smoke coming out from the right exhaust. Is it anything to worry about? Doesn't white smoke means it's burning oil? We'll see if it still happens after a few more rides.

I have some bad news. My bike isn't getting spark. I wonder why? I haven't started it since Tuesday. And on Tuesday, it was running just fine. I really hope that it's just a loose or dirty connection somewhere!

Small update.

Got the mirror mounted up. Looks great and I can see behind me. Here's a few shots.
Image

Image

Image

And the right side cover. Not done sanding yet.
Image

Awesome lock!
Image

But it collides with the seat. I'll think about what to do...
Image

No pics of the left side cover because I have to repair it. One of the mounting points is cracked.

HA! I forgot to update this!

Alright. I fixed the crack on the left side cover. You can't even tell there's a crack there anymore. Then I bondoed the badge holes shut so it's just a smooth surface. Sanded the decals off, smoothed the bondo, then primer.

The paint room.
Image

Left side cover. No cracked corner, no badge holes.
Image

Image

Right side cover. I couldn't figure out how to get the lock out so I just taped over it.
Image

Image

So smooth!
Image

A pink colored seat!
Image

Image

All of these parts received 3 coats of primer. Now they are currently sitting in a super hot 100* F room. Not sure why but they told me to put it in there. Tomorrow, I plan on wet sanding both side covers and the seat. Maybe I'll get lucky and be able to paint the color on tomorrow.

Wet sanded the parts with 1500 grit then started spraying on gloss black.

Left side cover.
Image

Image

Right side cover.
Image

Image

All together.
Image

Image

Here's a video still of me painting the first coat on.
Image

The dust on the parts was from sweeping around the area. Luckily the paint was already dry. Thank you 120*F room! It was soooo hot in there....
