Airsoft.

Postby Trebor » Mon Aug 16, 2010 12:19 am

I've been watching videos of this on Youtube and looked abit into some sites, it's looks like alot of fun. I've been paintballing before and this seems to be abit more serious but i like that. I'm deffinaltley gonna go, in the near future hopefully, but i thought i'd see if anyone on here has been and what they thought of it.
There's a couple of sites pretty close to me but i want to make abit of ride out of it and stay somewhere close overnight. I'll probably end up going on me larry as i've spoke to a few mates about it but they didn't really seem interested, although when i actually make solid plans about going they might come. I've got to get my full licence first, then get a new bike, get used to the bike, then get some motorway riding experince. Plus i got money problems at the moment (who hasn't i know) so it's going to be a while yet. If anyone would be up for it though i'd welcome the company, especially on the road as no one i know rides bikes, well not for the travel side of it anyway. Like i said it's going to be awhile yet but i'm bored and watching some airsoft vids so i thought i'd put this up.

I regularly go.

I have an MP5 and an SA80.
Its great fun, a hell of a lot more serious and 'professional' With paintballing with 95% of places you go its little jumped up kids that think they will be AMAZING at it becuase they can get HS's on CoD.

Airsoft is alot more serious, people invest a hell of alot more money in it and 99% of people use their own guns which alot of paintballing places done even allow.

Its brilliant fun, alot more relaxed but alot more serious.
If you go places like Delta Force or other smaller PB places it tends to be people that go in little teams irregularly with mates, where as airsoft people will often be 2 or 3 times a month regulars!

Note to self, don't burgle ATaylor's house. How funny would that sh*t be though, emptying a clip of BB's on a burglar. I think he'd be shocked. I wasn't expecting that answer though, how fast does the MP5 empty the clip.?
Like i said i like the fact that it's serious, you can have a laugh but really get into something at the same time.

Yeah lol I don't recommend coming to my house to cause trouble :p

I keep the MP5 loaded next to my bed, it fires about 800~RPM at 315fps with an 8.4v battery.
And will do about 1100~RPM at 270fps with a 9.6v battery. But that kills the gear box and motor.

It will rinse a 220 round mag very quickly. In about 1 1/2 mins if I can keep it wound up.
I prefer it to the sa80, sa80s too slow and heavy to throw about quick.

If i like it as much as ithink i will, and i know i'll be going more regular i probably will get one, i think i'd go with the M4 and gotta have dual pistols, that would be a laugh in CQB games. You have to have a licence though don't you.

You have to have a license to use the fully realistic guns ... but you if your using 2 tone weapons (there a bright colour to show there not real weapons) then you can just turn up.

you can also have a fully realistic airsoft gun  without a license if you have your own personal insurance or if the guns doing +1J, although if its+1J you might have ristriction when your skirmishing.

I'll just wear double layers, it'll still hurt i know but less. Also a full face mask, i'm not having one of those in the face. Hopefully going to be gettng my test done sooner than expected, a bike too so will be doing this sooner hopefully too.
I could go whenever but i want to wait and make going to airsoft for the first time also my first proper ride. Just think it would make a great weekend.

If you're in the UK, go to http://www.warfighters.co.uk/ and check them out.

They've got IR Skirmish ('laser' skirmish), running off mil-spec taggers.  While paintball, and airsoft both have their strengths, they'll never match the accuracy at range of IR Skirmish (you can hit someone over 100m away accurately!).

Me & buddies paintball while wearing tank-tops, normal pants and goggles. No helmets. Much more fun when you can feel the PAIN!

The pain factor is subjective.
You can shoot someone in paintball or airsoft, and have them keep coming at you.  In IR Skirmish, when you 'kill' another player, they stay dead.

You can also get more variations in weaponry with variable effects.  An smg (using the right protocol) is not as dangerous as a AR.  Their ranges can vary, as can their effects.

Another thing to consider is the realism you get with IR.  The military might use simunition for cqb, but they rely on the MILES protocol (in many cases) for simulations and training.  I know for a fact that Canada, Australia and England use IR for training purposes.
