Knowing chinese will help you out a lot in getting on their good side. so ask ur gf to start teaching you, be outrageously respectful to her parents by saying "hi, how are you?" all the time and shaking the father's hand whenever you get the chance. If you ever go to a family gathering, bring something as a present or something, be it some fruit, cake, dessert, etc. and try not to hold ur gf anywhere other than her hands while in their presence.

with the not really being able to converse with her parents, I know wat you mean...i speak cantonese and my gf's parents speak toi san so it's hard to converse with them also. tho they understand what i say...but when they talk...i'm like "huh??" anyhow actions speak much louder than words to parents.

Good luck!

My gf listens to her parents (for the most part) as well. It's normal.

Good luck with it all.

its funny how society associates people who ride motorcycles with been in a hard core bike gang raping and murdering people and of course dealing drugs!!!  also people who have tattoos must be either a thug or a criminal !!!!!

a lesson for all young people ,   and this is something i tell my kids all the time .  never judge a book by its cover !!!

In the end the poor man was just afraid that his daughter would be heartbroken if I got killed or seriously injured in an accident. I explained to him that I knew about the stigma attached to biking in general, and he said that in the end my mother-in-law convinced him that I wasn't a freaking gangster.

It was kind of cute if you ask me. He explained to me that she (my girlfriend) loved me very much and talked a lot about me before they met me and that when he told her he didn't want her to see me anymore because I was riding bikes, she locked herself in her room and refused to go to school. Haha.

He made me promise I'd be careful and then we had an awesome freaking meal together.

I am pretty sure inside every motorcyclist wants to be a hardcore bike gang raping, murdering, and dealing drugs, but of course since that would increase insurance premiums, we don't do it.
