Back on topic: I really want to get into some track riding when i can afford it. NESBA hosts track days for like $175 or so by me. Not at a really big and perfectly-maintained track. It's a decent track though.

Is there a beginner class or something similar at these tracks?  I want to eventually get a sports bike along with my cruiser, and I would like to practice getting the knee down and all that.

This stuff always looked like a blast to me, and my father used to race in motocross when he was younger for around 10 years, so I figure one day I could give this a shot since there aren't any dirt tracks around me.

You need to talk to some people in your area that go to the track a lot. I asked the same question, and some people told me which organizations are beginner friendly. Some organizations will have instructors on motorcycles riding close and watching you, then giving you tips after the session. Of course, every organization has different groups depending on your skill.
