NSR250 engine into an NSR150 frame?

How to fix this or that. Or adjust those and the others.

NSR250 engine into an NSR150 frame?

Postby kiske » Sat Sep 10, 2011 2:59 am

Ok,

So I've been on the search for a legal NSR250 here in Thailand, to no avail. Most get shipped over tot he UK as they generally sell for 6x the price.

However.... I can easily get a hold of an actual engine... and after talking with some tuners/mechanics, it seems I can change engines in my bike without any legal issues (I just need to let them know). Most cars here switch out engines etc. as with bikes. I've seen Toyota pick-ups with Honda engines etc.

Anyway, all that aside.

Does anyone know if an NSR250 engine can be made to fit into an NSR150 frame? I understand it may (will!) require some custom brackets bla bla. But I'm mainly concerned about the actual size of the engine, albeit a rather small engine. The NSR150 frame is quite large for a small cc bike.

Actually, I could use a TZM150 frame, I guess. As it's the largest of the 2stroke 150 frames.

Any ideas/thoughts?

Will be a long term project, if so :)

There might be a slim possibility that the 150 and 250 frame (from the same year) share the same frame. But I have no experiance in those kind of changes to bikes.
