my new favourite bike ever

Postby purkle » Wed May 19, 2010 9:32 am

so my old favourite bike ever was actually a ducati - the 'SS' one with the trellis frame.

only problem is, they weren't all that fast and they suffered from massive reliability problems.

never fear! a solution is here... made, rather confusingly, by Yamaha.

it's basically the same bike. they shamelessly copied it, but importantly they made it better. more power. more reliability. good handling.

Ugly as sin but interesting none-the-less.

Parallel twin that almost sounds like the Duc too

I like all but the headlight.

I love the way the exhausts come up at an angle, the framework and the engine but to me the plastics look like sheets of aluminium have been put over an anvil and hammered into square angles...

yeah it's not a particularly pretty bike, that's for sure.

but your favourite bike doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the bike you find most beautiful.

i like it because it does everything the old Duc did, but better, and despite not being pretty, it has a nice overall shape and a wicked sound... and importantly it's achievable... i could afford one within a matter of weeks..... whereas most people rather stupidly have favourite vehicles way out of their league that they could never possibly own.

so there we go. it's a bike. a very good one, at that.

Very true, however as I have only looked at the photographs I can only appreciate it (for the moment) for it's aesthetic turn ons.

He won't get kicked. He hasn't actually said anything offensive and he's not doing much wrong. You may not like him, but that's not a reason to ban someone.

the back of the bike looks really nice. not 100% crazy about the fairing over the front wheel (around the front light and stuff). but from there back? really nice.
