this reinforces the argument for filtering. it happens far too often for my liking.... endless accounts online of people being rear-ended by people who apparently have no eyes.

it also reinforces the argument for having your headlights (and therefore your rear lights) on ALL THE TIME.

i can't believe how unobservant people can be sometimes. do they just drift through reality in a sort of dull-minded haze?

What happens if you filter in the us? Do people call the police if they see you doing it? And if the police catches you what'll happen?

I've heard multiple times of people getting chased down by cars who phone the police. Or just people going nuts as you pass them. They'll try to cut you off, honk their horns, everything. I don't know what the police can do if they don't actually catch you doing it. The retard in the car has no proof, and you can't trust their interpretation of the law. In any event, i'd just keep riding. If the traffic is bad enough that i felt i should filter, then there's no way a car should keep up with me.

Mh, kay... I never experienced something like this here. Just looked it up and it's not allowed here in Germany (->30€ since going between two cars counts as overtaking on the right) but I've seen it countless times. I also overtake on the left if a signal is red and the queue is very long... *shrug*

Fuck 'em. A cop won't be able to keep up in traffic, and neither will some self-appointed vigilante who is only being far more dangerous to keep up and talk on the phone at the same time.

The numberplates are pretty well visible here (unlike in the US). If the police shows you, that you have to stop and you don't do it, you have to pay 50€ and get 1 Point in the national register for road-stuff (guess something like that exists in the US too). On the other hand you could say, that you thought they ment somebody else if it's tight traffic and they are a bit behind you... Maybe wouldn't "count" then. Well, gotta decide that in the actual situation.

If you don't stop over here, and they catch you, you're gonna be arrested and probably charged with many different infractions. If they don't catch you, they usually can't prove it was you. I don't know what the law is, but if you say it wasn't you and you don't know who it was...what can they do? That's of course if they ever get close enough to read your plate.

You can do that here too... Once. Because they most likely force you after such a thing to write down every single Ride your Bike does, how far, where to and who... Not very fun :<

Love the videos this guy posts - it's a local spot here in Southern California that riders frequent every weekend. I have yet to try this canyon run yet as i am still a noobie :D

Here is the channel though - loads of cool videos - http://www.youtube.com/user/rnickeymouse

I've seen all his videos, pretty entertaining indeed. I'd love to ride that road once... 15 mph speedlimit everywhere though :D

Yeah i can't wait ... I refuse to ride unfamiliar roads without proper gear though, I only have a textile/mesh jacket and reinforced jeans. I want to get my hands on some leathers, but they are kind of tough to get with a minimum wage job and bills :/

I'm gonna get leathers this year too. Just don't know if i should buy used or new. I'd rather get used (better quality) leathers, but you've gotta find some that fit first. ^^
